Forest Lodge Camp 2025

Last week our Grade 4, 5 and 6 students had an unforgettable time away at Forest Lodge Camp.  Over three fun filled days, students challenged themselves, made new memories and enjoyed plenty of outdoor activities.

Activities at the camp included the flying fox, giant swing, archery, low ropes course, canoeing, hut building and team challenges.  One of the big highlights was the mud run, where everyone got soaked, muddy and had a fantastic time pushing themselves through the course.

Evenings were just as exciting with a night walk under the stars and toasting marshmallows around the campfire.  One night, everyone enjoyed a quiet movie evening, giving the students a chance to relax and wind down after an action-packed day.

For some students it was their first time away from home, and they showed great independence and resilience.  The camp was a huge success, filled with adventures, laughter and memories that will be remembered for years to come.

School Notice Board - 24th October 2025

Thank You For a Successful Camp

All our students are to be congratulated on the wonderful way they represented themselves and our school during last week’s Forest Lodge Farm Camp. The camp staff were full of praise for their positive attitudes, respectful behaviour, and willingness to participate in all activities.

A big thank you also goes to our dedicated staff who gave up their time to plan, organise, and lead the camp. Their hard work and energy ensured everything ran smoothly and that the students had a memorable experience.

Finally, thank you to all the parents and carers for your support in preparing your children for camp. They were absolutely fantastic!

The Importance of Reporting Student Absences

Regular attendance is vital for every child’s learning and wellbeing. When students miss school, they can miss valuable learning time and important social connections. To help us support your child and meet our legal obligations, it’s essential that all absences are reported promptly.

School Responsibilities

  • Accurately record student attendance each day.

  • Enter the correct reason for any absences.

  • Follow up on any unexplained absences to ensure student safety.

Parent / Carer Responsibilities

  • Notify the school on or before the day of your child’s absence.

  • Provide an update if your child remains absent the following day.

  • Ensure an explanation is provided for every absence.

How to Report an Absence

Timely communication helps us keep accurate records and ensures we can check in on your child’s wellbeing if needed. Thank you for helping us keep every student safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The swooping birds are no longer in the school.

There was a swooping incident at the Havana Reserve oval, near the Milford Cres enterance. We are unsure if it is a Grey Butcherbird or a different spiecies.

Chesterfield Farm 2025

On Friday the 10th of October, our junior school students had a fantastic day visiting Chesterfield Farm.  Throughout the day, students learned all about farm life, including how animals are cared for and where some of our everyday food comes from.

Students had the chance to hand milk a cow as well as watch a cow milking show where the farmers demonstrated how cows are milked on a larger scale and learned what happens to the milk once it leaves the farm.

They also got to spend some time in the Animal Nursery, where they gently patted some of the farms smaller animals and newest arrivals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, lambs, and the cheeky alpaca who was very interested in the students' hats!

One of the exciting parts of the day was the sheepdog demonstration, where students watched a clever sheepdog round up a group of sheep using only whistles and voice commands.

Students enjoyed climbing aboard the tractor ride, which took them on a scenic loop around the farm.  Along the way they spotted many animals in the paddocks and saw different area where farmers work each day.

Inside the Discovery Barn, students explored displays showing how farming has changed over time.  They got to feel real deer antlers, touch soft wool, and see different sized eggs from chickens, emus, and ostriches.

They really enjoyed feeding the goats, deer, and kangaroos on the Feed Trail Walk.  Strong winds made this part very memorable, with feed blowing everywhere, students had to juggle holding their hats and keeping the animals happy at the same time!

It was a wonderful day full of hands on learning, laughter and new experiences enjoyed by all who attended.

Police Visit 2025

Our seniors school students were very excited to welcome the Public Order Response Team (PORT) to our school last week!  The visit gave the students a great insight into the many different parts of police work and the special equipment they use.

Students got to explore a real divisional van, a regular police car, and the PORT team's transport van.  They were fascinated to see all the tools and gear close up and learn how each vehicle is used.

The officers explained that the PORT team is a specialised unit within Victoria Police that helps keep the community safe during large scale events.  They respond to emergencies, assist during public gatherings such as contests and protests, and help maintain order in high risk situations.  The students were amazed to learn how much training and teamwork goes into their role.

There was plenty of hands on fun too!  The students had the chance to try on parts of the police uniform and even test out the protective shields.  They chatted with the officers about their jobs and what it's like to work as part of the Public Order Response Team.

A highlight of the visit was the training exercise, where students got to take turns throwing objects at police officers holding shields, just like in a real training session!

SWPBS Focus: Being RESPONSIBLE

This fortnight, our SWPBS (School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support) focus is on Being Responsible. At our school, being responsible means showing care and respect for our environment and the things we use every day.

We are encouraging students to:

  • Look after school and private property – treating classrooms, playgrounds, and belongings with care.

  • Use school property correctly – using equipment and resources safely and for their intended purpose.

  • Pack things away properly – taking the time to clean up after activities and return items to their rightful place.

By practising these simple but important habits, students help create a safe, organised, and welcoming environment for everyone. Responsibility is an important life skill, and it starts with small actions—like looking after our things and showing respect for shared spaces.

Families can support this focus at home by talking with children about how they show responsibility in daily routines—packing their bag, tidying their room, or caring for family belongings.

Together, we can all help make our school a place where everyone takes pride in being responsible! ?
