McClelland Gallery Excursion 2024

On Wednesday the 6th of November, our entire school enjoyed a fantastic excursion to McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park.  With the sun shining, students and teachers set off on foot to the gallery ready for a day of creativity, exploration, and fun.

The adventure included a walk around the park, where students saw many unique outdoor sculptures from towering abstract pieces to hidden pieces art among the trees.  Students also explored the gallery indoors, where intricate artworks were on display.  This air conditioned area provided a cooling break from the heat.

Students then had the chance to take a peaceful stroll around the lake to see some of the local wildlife whilst enjoying some more of the sculptures placed around the park.  Another activity took place in the Bush Hut, here students had the chance to draw their own artwork inspired by what they had seen throughout the day.

After a few hours of walking, learning and creating, everyone was grateful to hop on the bus back to school!

Cooking Yummy Scones with Jam and Cream!

On Friday the 8th of November, our wonderful cooking volunteer, Granny Sue returned to our school to teach the students how to make delicious scones with jam and cream.

In this hands on session, students learned the basics of baking, from mixing ingredients to kneading dough, and even got to try shaping the scones.  To top it all off, each student enjoyed their freshly baked scones with jam and a dollop of cream.

Why not try making scones at home!  It is a fun and easy recipe to recreate and the whole family can enjoy them warm with jam and cream.  Keep an eye out for more delicious updates as our cooking program continues to bring joy and skills to our students.

School Notice Board - 8th November 2024

Swooping Birds Alert

We have at least 2 swooping Grey Butcher birds hanging around the school. They have swooped when someone walking by themselves.

Grey Butcher birds resemble a grey and white, half-sized magpie. Their flight-feathers are black with a white stripe and they have a white patch between the beak and eyes.

Grey Butcher birds have a beautiful, melodic warble and a discordant chortling call. They build a strong cup-like nest made of fine twigs, grass and other plant material and breed from July to January.

They live in a wide range of woodlands and open forests and are quite common in some urban parks and gardens. Grey Butcher birds, like Australian Magpies, may swoop if they feel threatened.

For more information and tips to protect yourself, please visit the wildlife.vic.gov.au website.

Working Bee - Friday 15th

We would like to hold a working bee on Friday 15th November.

Could I please ask the parent community to reserve some time after school on that date and volunteer to come and join us for a working bee?

I would like to use the opporunity to refresh the look of areas in the school, fix up the look of the gardens and do some maintenance around the school.

The working bee will be from 3:15 until 5:00. We will be enjoying sausage rolls and party pies after the working bee.

Please register if you are able to come.
