A Word From the Principal

It was a much calmer week this week and it has been great seeing our children who have been in isolation slowly returning to school. A few dates for your diary:

Thursday 9th December will be our Carols and Family Fun Night. We will also be presenting the Academic Excellence Awards for children in grades P - 5.

Monday 13th December is Grade 6 Graduation and Academic Excellence Awards.

On both of these occassions, COVID regulations are to be followed. Information about Grade 6 Graduation was sent home with students today and are also in this week's eNewsletter.

We have been trying to contact a number of parents over the past week and have had great difficulty. Please put the school's number into your phone so that if we do ring you know who it is. If we leave you a message please get back to us. We would hate for something to happen to your child at school and be unable to contact you.

It is the time of the year that we begin to look at our student numbers for next year. If your child is not going to be attending Karingal Heights in 2022 please contact the office as soon as possible.

Have a great week everyone,

Kerryn Riley

Our SWPBS focus

The school value for this week is RESPECTFUL

The SWPBS expectation that will be focused on next week is about what you should do if you make a mistake.

Please help by supporting your child to admit if a mistake has happened and work through correcting or learning from their mistakes.

Focus of the week

Grade 6 Graduation and Academic Excellence Awards

Grade 6 Graduation is almost upon us but unfortunately, COVID restrictions has again meant some changes. Please read this important information.

Parent Workshop about Healthier Identities

Please place this date in your calendar.

December the 2nd is the parent workshop on 'Healthier Identities'. This is a very imporatant workshop as it can help model the way we help our young people navigate the pressures around themselves and their own identities.
Please keep an eye out for the survey that will be sent home next week asking if you would prefer to participate via video conference on onsite.

Please watch this video to find out more.

Our New Furniture

After such a long wait the new furniture in the grade 4/5/6 room has started to arrive. The room will look great when everything is there and organised.

Remembrance Day

Thank you to our school captains for reading the poem 'In Flanders Fields' and raising the flags on Remembrance Day, a day that we reflect upon the sacrifices of those who have served.

Prep Transition News

It was lovely to see our 2022 Prep students on site this week along with some of their parents. This week the children met Mrs Dickman in person and the parents met Mrs Riley and Nat Everitt from the Family Wellbeing Hub. Our next session is on Wednesday 24th November.

Support to help your kids get active

You could be eligible for a $200 voucher to help your child play sport but you need to get in quick!

A Word From Wellbeing

This week, we would like to highlight the importance of looking after your own wellbeing, the wellbeing of your families and the wellbeing of your friends. It has been great to see so many happy children playing and learning this week. Unfortunately, the week has not been easy for some children and families with COVID-19 interrupting their lives.

In these uncertain times, it is imporatnt to make sure you look after yourself. If you are taking care of your wellbeing, then you are in a better space to take care of the wellbeing of others.

The staff at KHPS have been assisting student's to adjust back to full time learning. Classes have been stopping for brain breaks and doing loads of social games to support both leanring and wellbeing.

If you are looking for some supports for yourself or your family, please see if there are any seminars, workshops or resources on the 'Family Wellbeing' page of our website.

Keep helping each other
