A Word From the Principal

This week we received our NAPLAN results and we were very pleased with the effort our children, along with their teachers and parents have put into teaching and learning in the past 18 months. Only 5 children in Year 5 completed NAPLAN and three of those children demonstrated high growth in at least one area of the test. These three children are also working in the top two bands in at least one area. 6 children completed NAPLAN testing in Year 3 and two of those children are also working in the top two bands in at least one area.

Being a small school, it serves no purpose for us to look at results in regards to percentages. We look at individual children and we can now tailor work to suit their learning.

Well done, Everyone.

Week 9 SWPBS Update

KHPS would like to keep improving the school culture and calm feel. RESPECT will continue to be the area we focus on throughout week 9.
Please read about our progress update and what you can do to help this week.
RESPECT is our week 9 focus

The teachers and children have made great improvements with their expected behaviours. School-Wide Possitive Behaviour Support systems are helping us target areas to keep improving.

This week, the SWPBS team analysed the August incident data to see how we are travelling with the focus on respect. We have seen a drop in the number of recorded incidents of disrespect when averaged with other months.

We would like to keep finding ways to acknowedge those student's who demonstrate respectuful behaviours. Right now we are using a few strategies to reinforce respect:

  • Classroom teachers have been asked to keep recognising and praising acts of respect, on Webex and in school.
  • A Respect presentation was delivered to all the student's at the previous assembly.
  • SWPBS tickets have been awarded to acknowledge respectful behaviours.
  • Classroom teachers will be talking about and teaching respectful behaviours.
If you are interested in joining the SWPBS team, we would be happy to have you on the team. We meet once per month to look at ways we can support expected behaivours.
Contact Jeremy Bodley via email if you are interested.
