Swimming Week 2026

Whole School Swimming Program

Last week, all students took part in our whole school swimming program at PARC pools in Frankston.  Each day, students travelled to the pool to participate in swimming lessons and water safety activities.

Throughout the week, students worked on a range of swimming skills, building their confidence in the water, and improving their technique.  It was great to see students challenging themselves and trying new things.

Students were placed in ability based groups, allowing them to learn at their own pace with others at a similar skill level.  The daily 45 minute lessons, led by qualified swimming instructors, included a range of skills from floating and kicking, to water safety and basic stroke development.  It was wonderful to see the students giving it their all and improving more and more each day.

One of the lessons focused on survival skills, where students learnt what to do if they found themselves in difficulty in the water.  They practiced skills such as treading water and safe ways to enter and exit the pool.  Another lesson focused on water safety and rescue, helping students learn how to stay safe around water and what to do if someone else needs help.

The week was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop important life skills while having fun.  Well done to all of our swimmers for showing great enthusiasm and resilience in the pool!

Whole School Excursion to Frankston Arts Centre

On Wednesday the 24th of June, our whole school enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Frankston Arts Centre to watch the live theatre production You, Me and the Land of Lost Things.

Students travelled by bus and were excited to experience a professional theatre performance.  The story followed two children, YOU and ME, who had lost some very important things, including a guinea pig, a lucky rabbit's foot, and even the plot itself!  To get their belongings back, they embarked on a wild adventure through the Land of Lost Things, a strange and chaotic world where lost items end up.

Along the way, they encountered flying socks, snapping turtles, treasure hungry pirates, and a very anxious bull.  Travelling in a bathtub boat and using a guinea pig detector to help them on their quest, YOU and ME had to avoid sharks, solve problems, and outsmart the villainous Johnny Knucklehead in their attempt to make it safely home.

It was a wonderful show that kept students entertained from start to finish, with lots of funny moments and unexpected twists along the way.

Wellbeing News

Rest and Recharge on School Holidays
As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, we'd like to thank our students, families and staff for their hard work, resilience and support throughout the semester.

The two-week holiday break is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to rest, recharge and spend quality time together. While routines may look a little different over the holidays, maintaining regular sleep patterns, staying active, and finding time for fun, connection and relaxation can all support children's wellbeing.

Whether you're heading away or enjoying a slower pace at home, we hope the break provides plenty of opportunities to create happy memories and return to school feeling refreshed and ready for a great start to next term.

We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3!

SWPBS Wrap Up!

As we wrap up Term 2, we would like to congratulate all of our students for the fantastic way they have continued to demonstrate our SWPBS values and school expectations each day.

Throughout the term, students have shown growth in following school routines, making positive choices, and contributing to a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment. From arriving at school ready to learn, to showing kindness in the playground and perseverance in the classroom, our students have consistently worked hard to live our school values.

A special thank you also goes to our families for supporting these expectations at home. Working together helps create consistency for our students and contributes to their success both academically and socially.

We are incredibly proud of the progress our students have made this term and look forward to building on these positive habits and routines in Term 3. We encourage everyone to enjoy a well-deserved break and return refreshed and ready for another successful term.

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years.

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
