Wellbeing Dog 2026

Over the past five fortnights, our students have had the wonderful opportunity to participate in The Unconditional Love Foundation's animal-assisted wellbeing program.  The program uses specially trained wellbeing dogs to help students build confidence, strengthen social connections, develop emotional awareness, and learn strategies to support their wellbeing.

A number of our students enjoyed spending time in small groups with Haddie, a gentle Labrador who comes from a service dog background and her handler Barb.  These sessions provided a calm and supportive environment where students engaged in activities designed to promote emotional awareness, self-regulation, and positive relationships.  Haddie's gentle presence helped students feel relaxed and connected while participating in meaningful wellbeing experiences.

A highlight of the program was the "Pat and Chat" experience with Scout a Schnauzer-cross, Pippin the Pomeranian, and their handler Leah.  These sessions gave each class the opportunity to build connections and practice mindfulness through patting and walking a wellbeing dog.  In small group, students took part in guided conversations, sharing positive animal stories and experiences, while learning about animal needs, feelings, and responsible care.  Spending time with Scout and Pippin brought excitement and joy, while also providing opportunities for students to practice kindness, gentle interaction and emotional regulation.

We would like to thank the Leah and Barb from The Unconditional Love Foundation, along with Haddie, Scout and Pippin, for sharing their time and expertise with our school.  This program has been a wonderful experience, and students have looked forward to every visit.

School Uniform Reminder

As the weather becomes colder, we have noticed an increasing number of students wearing non-uniform jumpers and pants to school. If students are wearing a top under their school shirts, the sleeves should be hidden. We would like to remind families that all students are expected to wear the approved school uniform each day.

School uniforms help create a sense of belonging, promote school pride and ensure that all students are dressed appropriately for learning and play. If additional layers are needed during winter, please ensure these are approved school uniform items.

We have also noticed an increase in students wearing jewellery. For safety reasons, jewellery is not permitted at school, with the exception of small stud or sleeper earrings and watches.

We appreciate the support of our families in helping students arrive at school dressed in the correct uniform. If you require assistance with accessing uniform items, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

For further information, refer to the Student Dress Code Policy.

Netball and Soccer Lightning Premiership 2026

On Wednesday the 10th of June some of our Year 4, 5 and 6 students represented our school at the Netball and Soccer Lightning Premierships, competing against students from a number of local schools.

This was the first time our school has entered teams in both the netball and soccer competitions.  The students demonstrated great sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout the day and proudly represented our school on and off the court and field.

The netball team worked hard and continued to improve with every match.  They showed excellent passing, communication, and persistence against strong oppositions.  Their determination paid off with a well deserved win against Frankston East PS.

Our soccer players also gave it their best effort, displaying great teamwork, skill, and resilience throughout the competition against a number of talented schools.  The senior boys' soccer team enjoyed a successful day, finishing 7th overall and placing 2nd in their division.

While the results varied throughout the day, all students should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive way they represented our school.  Participating in these events provides valuable opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork and sports skills while building connections with students from other schools.

Congratulations to all students involved on a fantastic achievement!

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years.

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
