Mother's Day Morning Tea 2026

Last Friday morning the 8th of May, our school enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day Morning Tea as we welcomed mums, grandmothers, and special visitors into the school to celebrate together.  It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces.

The students and their special loved ones shared a selection of delicious, sweet treats that had been carefully prepared by each class.  P1D made delicious cupcakes, 12W made beautifully decorated biscuits, 3F made yummy truffles, 34S made sweet teacup biscuits and 456H made their signature rocky road!

A highlight of the morning was the wonderful performance by P1D, who entertained the audience with two special Mother's Day songs.  The students not only sang beautifully, but also used signing throughout their performance, making it extra meaningful and memorable for everyone watching.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the morning so special.  It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the important people in our students' lives.  We hope all the mums had a very special Mother's Day!

Over the past fortnight, we have continued working hard to make our school a calm, caring and exciting place for everyone to learn and grow. It has been wonderful to see the positive improvements already taking place as students become more familiar and confident with our whole-school routines.

By explicitly teaching and practising routines consistently across the school, students know what is expected and are developing the skills needed to feel safe, settled and ready to learn each day. We will continue to embed these routines over time so they become a natural part of our daily school life.

Our current focus routines are:

Line-up routines – students are practising lining up in alphabetical order, standing with calm bodies, remaining quiet, and being ready to learn.

Moving around the school – when travelling in groups, students are practising walking in single file, keeping noise levels low, using safe body positions, and knowing what to do when they arrive at their destination.

As the year continues, we will also continue building skills in entry and exit routines, smooth transitions between activities, taking care of equipment, and many other important habits that support successful learning.

Families can help by reinforcing these ideas at home. Encouraging children to listen carefully to instructions, practise patience while waiting, move safely in shared spaces, and speak positively about school routines can make a big difference. Consistent messages between home and school help students feel confident and successful.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help every student thrive.

Annual ANZAC Commemoration for Students

Our School Leaders had the honour of attending the 94th Melbourne Legacy Annual ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony for students on Tuesday 5th May at the Shrine of Remembrance.

The special ceremony brought together students from schools across Victoria to reflect on the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women.

Students listened to speeches, joined in moments of reflection, and paid tribute to those who have served our country.  Attending this meaningful event was a valuable opportunity for our leaders to learn more about the importance of remembrance, courage, and community.

Wellbeing News

Over the next two weeks, our SWPBS focus will be on the school value of Resilience. Students will be learning and practising ways to build resilience both in the classroom and in the playground.

Our focus expected behaviours include:

  • Accepting that mistakes happen
  • Asking for help when needed
  • Attempting challenging tasks
  • Accepting instructions and rules

Developing resilience helps students grow in confidence, persevere through challenges, and become more independent learners. We encourage families to support this learning at home by celebrating effort, encouraging problem-solving, and reminding children that mistakes are an important part of learning.

Interschool Sports 2026

Today some of our students from grades 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a fun morning of interschool sports against Frankston East Primary School at our school.  Students participated in both netball and soccer, with two teams competing in each sport.

Our all girls netball teams played a hard fought and exciting match, with the game remaining close right until the end.  Although the girls did not take the win, they showed excellent teamwork and determination throughout the game.  The mixed netball team used the opportunity to continue developing their skills and confidence on the court.  Their match was played in a positive spirit and was not officially scored.  Well done to all our players!

In soccer, the older boys team competed in a very close and exciting match.  The boys played with great effort and sportsmanship but were unfortunately unable to come away with the win.  Our boys versus girls team also played extremely well in their non-scored game, continuing to develop their confidence, teamwork, and skills on the field.  A fantastic effort by all our soccer players!

These interschool sports matches are not about winning or losing, they are about having fun, learning new skills, and showing great sportsmanship!  Well done to all our students who joined in, we are very proud of your efforts and the positive attitudes you displayed!

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years.

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
