Easter Hat Parade 2026

The last day of term was filled with excitement as our students took part in our much-loved annual Easter Hat Parade.  After spending time in art creating their own unique hats, students were eager to show off their wonderful designs.

There was a wonderful variety of hats on display, decorated with feathers, stickers, fluffy chicks, sparkling eggs, and beautifully coloured Easter egg designs.  It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into each and every hat.

It was wonderful to see the students parading around with their class to show off their wonderful creations while dancing or hopping to the fun music in front of their teachers, families and friends.

A highlight of the morning was when the whole school community joined in to perform the Chicken Dance.  After that everyone hopped along to the Bunny Hop song and joined in for a round of musical statues and musical bobs, adding to the fun and festive atmosphere.

What a wonderful way to end Term 1!  A big well done to all the students for their fantastic effort and creativity.

We would like to wish everyone a very safe and Happy Easter holidays!

Hello KHPS families,

If you enjoy gardening or are handy with small maintenance tasks, we would love your help from time to time around the school.

There are currently a number of jobs we are hoping to get on top of, including weeding, leaf blowing, painting, tidying and other general maintenance. Extra helping hands would make a big difference in keeping our school grounds looking great for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Jeremy Bodley at:

Current jobs that need attention:
* Pruning back low branches in the playground that may be at eye level.
* Edging the path towards the evacuation point.

Thank you for supporting our school community.

Grandparents and Special Friends Afternoon 2026

On Wednesday the 25th of March our school welcomed grandparents and special friends for a wonderful afternoon filled with smiles and shared experiences.  Students warmly greeted their special guests on arrival with handmade cards and drawings, adding a thoughtful and personal touch to the day.

Throughout the afternoon, our visitors joined in a range of exciting activities alongside the students.  There were fun math games to play, Bee-Bots to explore and craft projects to make.  Many students and their special guests created handprint keepsakes together while others created thoughtful questions to interview their special person.  Students also enjoyed taking their guests on a fun scavenger hunt around the classrooms, exploring different areas of the school together and working as a team.

It was so special to see our students proudly showing their classrooms, sharing their learning and spending quality time with the important people in their lives.  The smiles, laughter and conversations across the school made the afternoon truly memorable.

Thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us, we loved having you here!

Looking Forward to a Safe and Restful School Holiday

As the term comes to a close, it’s important to take a moment to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students, staff, and families. The upcoming school holidays provide a valuable opportunity for everyone to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones.

We encourage students to enjoy a balance of relaxation, outdoor activity, and creative play over the break. This is also a great time to practice self-care routines, explore hobbies, and reflect on personal growth from the past term.

For families, maintaining consistent routines around sleep, meals, and physical activity can help children return to school refreshed and ready for Term 2. Remember to stay sun-smart, stay safe online, and enjoy the simple joys of the season.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting and successful term!

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years.

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
