Swimming Carnival 2026

Today we held our annual Swimming Carnival at Crib Point Swimming Pool, and it was a fantastic day of fun and school spirit.  Students enjoyed taking part in a range of swimming events and novelty races, cheering on their classmates and showing great sportsmanship throughout the day.

The novelty races included swimming to the teacher and back, pushing a ball across the pool while using a pool noodle to swim, and carefully carrying a jug of water on a kickboard to the teacher and back.  It was wonderful seeing the students getting involved, giving their best effort in the pool and encouraging one another.

Each year level also took part in the much anticipated Biggest Splash competition, where students tried to create the biggest splash possible.  During the senior students turn, Mr Hurford tried to avoid getting splashed by using one of the students as a shield, which had everyone laughing.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the always entertaining Students vs Teacher's race.  To make things even more entertaining, students on the sidelines squirted water at the swimmers as they raced across the pool.  With lots of cheering and laughter, the students finally managed to beat the teachers this year, celebrating a well earned victory!

A big thank you to all the staff and the 5/6H students who helped organise the day and ensured everything ran smoothly.  We would also like to thank the many parents, carers and friends for coming along to support the students and cheer them on.

With the sun shining and plenty of smiles all around, it was a wonderful day enjoyed by all.

Hello KHPS families,

If you enjoy gardening or are handy with small maintenance tasks, we would love your help from time to time around the school.

There are currently a number of jobs we are hoping to get on top of, including weeding, leaf blowing, painting, tidying and other general maintenance. Extra helping hands would make a big difference in keeping our school grounds looking great for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Jeremy Bodley at:

Thank you for supporting our school community.

Peter Combe Visits Our School!

Our students had a fantastic time Thursday morning 26th of February when Peter Combe visited our school to perform a fun and energetic live show.  The BER was filled with laughter and singing as students joined in with many of Peter's well known songs and actions.

Students enjoyed a wonderful selection of songs including Quirky Berserkey, The Turkey from Turkey, Planet Earth, A Frog in My Cheese Sandwich, Spaghetti Bolognese, Newspaper Mama, and the all time favourite, Wash Your Face in Orange Juice, to name a few.

A special highlight of the show was when our Auslan teacher Mrs. Thomas came to the front to help guide students in signing along to the song "10,000 Stars."  It was wonderful to see students confidently using Auslan while singing.

At the end of the performance, Peter Combe kindly signed his autograph for the students, and everyone was excited to take home their own copy as a keepsake from the morning.

Meet, Greet and Eat - A Wonderful Afternoon Together!

On Wednesday afternoon, our school community came together for our Meet. Greet and Eat event, and what a fantastic afternoon it was!

It was wonderful to see so many families join us on the school grounds to connect with teachers, education support staff, and one another.  The afternoon provided a relaxed and welcoming opportunity for parents and carers to introduce themselves, ask questions and build positive relationships with our staff.

A big thank you to Sarah from Anglicare, who did a fantastic job cooking the BBq sausages for everyone to enjoy, and to Mrs Bailey, who helped serve them up to our hungry students and families.

Students loved showing their families around the school, playing with friends and enjoying a delicious sausage in bread.  There was plenty of laughter, conversation, and smiles as everyone gathered to spend time together.

Events like these are such an important part of building a strong school community.  Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a success!

Wellbeing News

SWPBS Focus - Resilience

Over the next two weeks, our SWPBS focus will be on building students’ emotional awareness and resilience. Students will be learning to use the Zones of Regulation to help recognise and understand their feelings. By identifying which “zone” they are in, students can begin to develop strategies to manage their emotions and support their learning and wellbeing.

We will also be encouraging students to understand that mistakes are a normal and important part of learning. Making mistakes helps us grow, try new strategies and improve over time.

A key message for students will be resilience—having the confidence to keep trying, even when things feel challenging. We are proud of the way our students support one another and continue to develop these important life skills.

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years.

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
