Book Week Parade Celebration 2025!

On Friday the 22nd of August, our school celebrated the 80th anniversary of Children's Book Week with the exciting theme 'Book an Adventure!'  This theme encourages everyone to see reading as the ticket to journeys near and far, from magical kingdoms and mysterious islands to deep space and the wild jungle.

The highlight of the celebrations was our Book Week Parade, where students and staff arrived dressed as their favourite book characters ready to "set off" on their own adventures.  The parade was filled with colourful costumes, big smiles, and plenty of creativity.

Throughout the day, students took part in activity rotations, visiting different classrooms to hear stories read aloud and take part in fun activities linked to the books.

  • Mrs Turner and Mrs D (PD) - read One Little Dung Beetle, followed by a collaborative drawing activity.
  • Miss W (1/2W) - read Don't Worry Felix, then students had fun with balloon weaving.
  • Miss Farley (2/3F) - read How to Move a Zoo, with students creating elephant paper plate masks.
  • Miss Smith (3/4S) - read We Live on a Bus, and students designed their own funky buses.
  • Mr O and Mr Hurford (5/6H)- read Spiro, followed by a spider web craft activity.

The classrooms buzzed with creativity and lots of laughter as students enjoyed each story and its adventure.

This year's Book Week reminded us that opening a book is like opening a doorway - you never know what amazing adventure awaits inside!

Bullying No Way - National Week of Action 2025

Bullying No Way Week was held from the 11th - 15th of August this year.

The theme for 2025 Be bold. Be kind. Speak up', encourages our students to take positive action in standing up for themselves and others, creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

Throughout the week, classes engaged in activities and discussions about what bullying is, how it can make people feel, and most importantly, what we can do to prevent it.  Students talked about ways they could show kindness, build each other up, and seek help from a trusted adult if they or someone they know is being treated unfairly.  They spoke about how even small actions such as including someone in a game, checking in on a friend and being an upstander can make a big difference.

Students learned that being bold means having the courage to do what's right, even when it is not easy.  Being kind means showing care in our words and actions every day.  Speaking up means using our voice to report bullying and support those who need help.

By choosing to be an upstanders, not bystanders, we can create a school where everyone feels safe, included, and respected.  Let's continue to be bold, be kind, and speak up, not just during Bullying No Way Week, but every day!
