Japanese Cultural Day at Karingal Primary School

On Tuesday, the 13th of May our students were excited to take part in a Japanese Cultural Day hosted by Karingal Primary School!  From traditional games to creative crafts, students had the chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and art of Japanese culture.

Throughout the day, students rotated through a variety of activities.  They had to go at Tamarie, a team game where students aimed to toss the most beanbags into netball nets.  They enjoyed a colourful Koinobori craft, making their own koi fish flagpoles using straws and paper fish, a symbol of strength and perseverance in Japan.

Students also decorated their own handheld fans, designed kimonos, and made cherry blossom trees with pink tissue paper.  At another station, students used brush pens to try their hand at calligraphy, writing Japanese characters.

A highlight for many was the chopsticks challenge, where students raced to pick up pompoms, erasers, and even lollies using chopsticks.  The origami bookmark station was another favourite, with students folding paper to create a corner bookmark and decorating them like Pokemon or other characters.

The older students also enjoyed stone painting, using paint markers, and had the chance to decorate their own tote bags with stencils featuring traditional Japanese patterns.

The event was a great chance for students to make new friends, learn about another culture, and have a lot of fun while doing it.

A big thank you to Karingal Primary for hosting such a fun day!

School Notice Board - 16th May 2025

On time everyday

Being on time for school is extremely important. Too many students miss out on valuable instructions and also disrupt the class when they arrive to class after a lesson has stated.

Over the past 2 weeks, KHPS has been implementing an attendance initiative to help encourage getting to school on time and everyday.

Over the next few weeks, we are continuing to acknowledge those who are on time. They will receive SWPBS tickets for each day they arrive by 9:00am.

There have been some marked improvements for the last 2 weeks.
The average number of students late has reduced to 3.2 per day, down from 4.9 per day last term.

Thank you all the families out there that always attend on time. Thank you to all the students and families that have made changes to their routines to improve in this area

Mother's Day Morning Tea 2025

Last Thursday morning the 8th of May, our school was filled with smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of love as we celebrated our annual Mother's Day Morning Tea.  It was a wonderful occasion where we welcomed many mums, grandmothers, and special female guests to join us for a delightful morning together.

The BER building was buzzing with excitement as our guests enjoyed a delicious spread of morning tea treats - lovingly prepared with help from our students!

A highlight of the morning was a heartwarming performance by our Prep grade students, who sang two special songs just for our guests.  Their sweet voices and proud faces brought some happy tears and lots of applause from the audience.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us to make this event so special.  We hope all our wonderful mum's, grandmother's and special females who love, support, and inspire our students every day had a very Happy Mother's Day!

Interschool Sports 2025

On Friday the 16th of May, some of our students from grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 hosted Frankston East Primary School for an exciting round of interschool sports!

Karingal Heights had two netball teams that were full of energy and enthusiasm as they took to the courts.  Our senior team played a terrific match, coming away with the win, scoring three goals to one.  Our second team was made up of younger players who participated in a friendly practice match.  While no official score was kept, it was a great learning experience, and both sides played an evenly matched and enthusiastic game.  It was wonderful to see our future netballers in action.   Well done to all our players!

On the soccer field, both of our teams gave it their all from the first whistle to the last.  The girls team played a thrilling match, scoring 9-0 and taking the win!  The boys team played a very close competitive match, scoring 0-1. They defended bravely and kept pushing until the final whistle.  A fantastic effort by all our soccer players.

These interschool sports matches are not about winning or losing, they are about having fun, learning new skills, and showing great sportsmanship!  Well done to all our students who joined in, we are very proud of your efforts and the positive attitudes you displayed!

SWPBS Focus: Responsible and Resilient Learners

For the next two weeks, our SWPBS (School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support) focus is all about becoming stronger, more confident learners by being Responsible and Resilient.

We are encouraging all students to focus on their learning by being responsiblethis means staying on task, being prepared, and taking ownership of their progress. Responsible learners ask questions, seek feedback, and make the most of every learning opportunity.

At the same time, we are highlighting the importance of resilience. This means being willing to attempt challenging tasks or situations with confidence, even when the outcome is uncertain. Resilient learners don't give up easily—they see mistakes as opportunities to grow and keep trying, even when things get tough.

Together, responsibility and resilience help create a positive and productive learning environment. Let’s all support one another in building these essential skills!

Term 2 Lunchtime Clubs – Come Join the Fun!

We’re excited to share our Term 2 Lunchtime Clubs Timetable, offering a fantastic variety of activities for students to enjoy during their breaks. Lunchtime clubs are a great way for students to explore new interests, build friendships, and have fun in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
