ANZAC Day - Honoring our Heros

On Thursday morning the 24th of April, our senior school students led an ANZAC Day ceremony at the front of our school.  With pride and respect, they paid tribute to the brave men and women who served and sacrificed our country.  The ceremony included a reflective reading, the playing of The Last Post, and a respectful minute of silence.

In preparation for the day, classes across the school explored the significance of ANZAC Day.  Students listened to stories, watched videos, and participated in thoughtful discussions about the meaning behind this important event.  Our 5/6 class took their learning even further, researching ANZAC Day and sharing their findings with their class.  They also created a special wreath made from green paper hands and paper poppies, decorated with words of affirmation and remembrance.

In art, students created ANZAC inspired paintings using different media, including watercolours and pastels.  Students in our 2/3 class made special ANZAC poppy medals, which they could wear proudly to symbolise respect and remembrance.

On Monday 28th April, Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Laffy, along with our school leaders, represented our school at the Shrine of Remembrance.  They joined hundreds of students from primary and secondary schools across Victoria to take part in Legacy's Annual ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony for students, a very special and respectful event.  Our school leaders laid the handmade wreath during the ceremony, offering a heartfelt tribute on behalf of our school community.

School Notice Board - 2nd May 2025

Attendance and Lateness

This week, we introduced a new attendance incentive program to recognize and reward students who consistently arrive on time. The initiative aims both to celebrate those with excellent punctuality and to encourage positive changes in students who may need a bit of a boost.

A heartfelt thank you to all students and families for your ongoing commitment to timely attendance. We've already noticed a significant improvement, and your efforts are truly appreciated.

Arriving on time helps reduce anxiety, minimizes classroom disruptions, and ensures students don’t miss out on important instructions and learning opportunities.

Cooking Fun with Deb - Cheese and Vegemite Scrolls!

On Thursday and Friday this week we were thrilled to welcome back our wonderful volunteer Deb for our second cooking class for the year!  Deb brought her warmth, patience, and passion for food as she guided the students throughmaking delicious cheese and Vegemite scrolls.

The kitchen was filled with excitement, as the students took turns mixing, rolling, spreading and slicing their scrolls before waiting paitiently for them to bake to golden perfection.  The smell of cheese melting in the oven was mouthwatering!

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to practice following instructions, working together, and taking turns, all while having lots of fun creating something tasty from scratch!

A big thank you to Deb for coming back and sharing her time and talents with us and the parents who came to help.  We can't wait to see what we will be cooking next time!

Try these quick yummy scrolls at home!
