Celebrating Harmony Day at KHPS!

On Friday, our school came together to celebrate Harmony Day, a special time to recognise and embrace the rich diversity within our community.  Harmony Day is all about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone, no matter where we come from.

Our students took part in a variety of fun and meaningful activities to reflect on what harmony means.  Our Prep students made their own wristbands and enjoyed listening to a song about belonging together, sparking great conversations about friendship, kindness, and celebrating differences.

The 12W class explored the meaning of Harmony Day by watching a PowerPoint presentation, which helped them understand why inclusiveness and respect are important.  Afterwards, they created paper people, each representing themselves.  These paper figures will be joined together to symbolise that everyone belongs.

As a whole school, we worked on a collaborative artwork to represent the many people and cultures that make our school such a wonderful place.  Each student decorated a Harmony Day handprint, designing it to represent themselves or their cultural heritage.  These handprints were then added to a large Harmony Tree (Thank You Mrs. Bodley!), symbolising how we all come together as one community.

Harmony Day was a wonderful opportunity for the students to celebrate diversity, express themselves creatively, and reflect on the importance of inclusion.

NAPLAN 2025

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and congratulate our amazing Grade 3 and 5 students for their hard work and dedication during the recent NAPLAN testing. Sitting these assessments requires focus, perseverance, and a positive attitude, and we are incredibly proud of how our students approached the challenge.

NAPLAN is just one part of their learning journey, and regardless of the results, each student should be proud of their effort and determination. We commend them for their resilience and commitment to doing their best.

SWPBS Focus

At Karingal Heights Primary School, we continue to foster a positive school environment by reinforcing our SWPBS expectations. For the next two weeks, our focus will be on two key behaviors:

1. We Accept Our Mistakes and Apologise When Mistakes Are Made

Making mistakes is a natural part of learning and growing. At our school, we encourage students to take responsibility for their actions, learn from their mistakes, and demonstrate respect by offering sincere apologies when needed.

Some key discussion points include:
✅ Understanding that mistakes help us learn
✅ Taking responsibility for our actions
✅ Offering a genuine apology when needed
✅ Moving forward with a positive attitude

2. We Put Equipment Away When We Finish Using It

Respecting our learning and play environments is an important part of being a responsible member of our school community. This expectation reminds students to take care of equipment and ensure that shared resources are put away properly after use.

Ways we can show responsibility:
✅ Returning sports equipment to the correct place after use
✅ Cleaning up classroom materials when finishing an activity
✅ Taking care of school resources to ensure they last for everyone

By focusing on respect and responsibility, we are helping to build a school culture where everyone feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Thank you for reinforcing these behaviors at home and encouraging your child to be a respectful and responsible member of our school community!
