Cooking Classes are back for 2025!

We are excited to welcome Debbie, our new cooking class volunteer, to our school! Debbie will be joining us over two days twice a term, bringing her passion for cooking and sharing fun, hands on experiences with our students.

This week, Debbie led her very first class, and the children had a fantastic time making delicious honey joys.  The kitchen was filled with the sweet smell of honey and cornflakes as the students measured, mixed, and spooned their treats into cases before eagerly waiting for them to set.

Thank you Debbie for a wonderful first cooking class for 2025 and to the parents who came along to help.  We look forward to many more fun and tasty cooking sessions ahead!

Have a go at making these sweet treats at home!

School Notice Board - 7th March 2025

Swimming Carnival
The annual swimming carnival will be held next Friday the 14th March. Everyone is expected to participate in this event. Students can support from the sidelines if they can't get in the water. All younger students and

Past swimming carnivals have always been stongly supported by parents, carers and grandparents and I would encourage all family to come watch or help out.

If you would like to help out on the day, please see Mr Bodley or Mr Hurford when you arrive at the pool.

Jobs that would really help us:
  • Setting up the school marque upon arrival. Packing it up after.
  • Giving out 1st-4th place cards.
  • Change room help (grades prep - 2 only). All change room helpers need a valid Working With Children Check.

No School Monday and Tuesday
I would like to remind everyone that Monday 10th March is a public holiday.

Tuesday 11th March is a curriculum day.

Both Monday and Tuesday are student free days.

NAPLAN testing
The NAPLAN testing starts on Wednesday. Please ensure that your children are prepared by being early, having a good breakfast and attending every day.

Needing to make up a test when others have already completed theirs can cause anxiety. It is important that they sit the test at the testing times.

Testing schedule:
Wednesday 12th - Writing
Thursday 13th - Reading then Conventions of language.
Tuesday 18th - Numeracy

See the parent information flyer for more detail around NAPLAN.

SWPBS Focus

At Karingal Heights Primary School, we are committed to fostering a positive learning environment through our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. Over the next two weeks, we will be focusing on two key behaviours that contribute to a respectful and responsible school community:

1. Arriving on Time in the Morning and After Breaks

Punctuality is an essential skill that helps students develop responsibility and ensures minimal disruption to learning. Arriving on time allows students to settle into the school day calmly and engage fully in lessons. We encourage all students to:
✅ Be at school and in class before the bell rings.
✅ Return promptly after breaks, ready to learn.
✅ Plan ahead by organizing belongings the night before and allowing enough time to get to school.

2. Wearing the School Uniform with Pride

Our school uniform represents unity, respect, and school spirit. Wearing it correctly and with pride shows commitment to our school values. Over the next two weeks, we will be reinforcing the importance of:
✅ Wearing the full and correct uniform each day.
✅ Keeping uniforms clean, neat, and in good condition.
✅ Representing the school with pride, both on and off campus.

We appreciate the support of families in reinforcing these expectations at home. Let’s work together to make our school a place where students feel prepared, responsible, and proud!

Thank you for your ongoing support of our SWPBS initiatives. Let’s make the next two weeks a success!

? Reminder: Positive behaviour will be acknowledged and celebrated through our SWPBS rewards system. Keep up the great work!
