School Notice Board - 31st January 2025

I would like to welcome back all the children and their families to the 2025 year.

I would like to encourage the students to start the year off strong and build quality relationships with their peers and school staff. Please read the article on the 'Super Start Program' in this newsletter.

As part of having a great start, I would like to ask parents/carers to build consistent routines around school attendace and arriving on time so they don't miss out on the morning circle time work.

Leadership Badge Presentation
The first assembly for 2025 will be next Friday 7th February at 2:30pm.

During this assembly, we will be prenting the grade 6 leadership team with their badges.

Please come along and support the students. Student of the week awards will be presented at this assembly.

Sentral app for parents
Throughout the next couple of weeks, more information around the Sentral Parent Portal app will be sent home.
A number of families self registered for the portal last year. If you have not registered, or are a new family to the school, an email with registration details and access key codes will be sent to your email next week.

This year:
* Annual consent forms will be accepted through the app.
* Mid year and end of year reports will be accessible through the app.
* Reporting absences will be available through the app.

You can download the Sentral Parent App from the Google Play store or Apple Store

The start and end of the day remain the same.

Breakfast Club commences next week

Breakfast club will be starting back up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from the 3rd February.

Students may enter breakfast club between 8:30 - 8:45.

School Hats

All children need to be wearing an approved hat. At KHPS, we accept navy blue broad brim or bucket style hats.

Children without a hat will need to play in the shaded quiet area.

Wellbeing News

KHPS Super Start to School:

We are excited to launch the KHPS Super Start to School program in 2025—a new initiative designed to help students transition smoothly and confidently into the school year.

Running for the first two weeks of Term 1, this program is designed for the whole school, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), and establishing a safe and orderly learning environment. Through structured routines and engaging activities, the program aims to:

✅ Foster strong relationships between students and staff.
✅ Promote emotional resilience and self-regulation.
✅ Create a calm, predictable, and supportive learning environment.

Daily Structure of the KHPS Super Start to School Program

Each day, students will participate in:

? Morning Circle – A connection-focused routine to start the day positively.
? Wellbeing Lesson – Activities that develop emotional literacy and self-regulation.
? SWPBS Lesson – Explicit teaching and modelling of school-wide expectations using the KHPS Behaviour Matrix.
? Routines Lesson – Practicing and refining school routines for consistency and predictability.
? Fun Activity – Collaborative games and team-building tasks to strengthen class cohesion.

By starting the year with the Super Start to School program, we aim to equip students with the skills and confidence to be ready to learn each day and thrive throughout the year. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this initiative in 2025!

School Routines: What You Need to Know

Getting back into school routines can be an adjustment, so here are some key reminders:

  • Morning Supervision: School gates open at 8:45 AM. There is no supervision before this time.
  • Breakfast Club: Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 AM in the kitchen. Students arriving at 8:30 must go directly to the Breakfast Club as the yard is unsupervised until 8:45.
  • Start of the Day:
    • First bell: 8:55 AM – students head to class.
    • Classes begin at 9:00 AM with a morning circle to start the day positively.
  • Break Times (New Schedule!):
    • Recess: 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Lunch Play: 1:55 PM – 2:25 PM (students eat before play).
  • End of the Day: The home bell rings at 3:15 PM. The side gate is the main exit/entry point.
  • Attendance Matters: Regular attendance is essential. If your child is absent, please notify the office or call the absence line.

Let’s make it a great start to the year! ?
