Swimming Carnival 2024

Today our annual swimming carnival was a hugh success!  The sun was not always shining but the students and staff still had fun participating in the different swimming events.  The biggest splash was a hit with all the students!

Congratulations to all the swimmers on the day for their efforts and especially the students from Banksia (Green) house who helped their house come away with the overall win!  The end scores were so close!  Coming in second was Wattle (Yellow) house and equal third was Bottlebrush (Red) and Bluegum (Blue) house.

To end the carnival some of the senior school students raced the teachers in what started off to be a close relay race but in the end the teachers hit the finish line a couple of seconds ahead of them!

Thank you to all the family and friends who came along to cheer on the students and support our school.

Colour Run Fundraising 2024

KEEP FUNDRAISING!

We're already two weeks into our fantastic fundraiser, and the excitement is palpable! Our upcoming Crazy Colour Day on Monday 25
th March promises to be a whirlwind of vibrancy as we have a day of fun in the sun!

But it's not just about the spectacle; it's about making a difference. Through your efforts so far, we have raised
over $2000 to go towards the upgrade of the basketball court. This means we will get to slime 2 teachers!! Can we raise another $1000, so we can slime some more unlucky teachers?

In next week’s newsletter, we are going to hold a random draw competition. Any student who has raised over $100 will go in the draw to win the chance to slime a teacher.

Remember, there's still time to get involved! Sign up at FUNRUN.COM.AU  and share your fundraising link far and wide.

Harmony Day 2024

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Did you know?

  • Nearly half (49 per cent) of Australians were born overseas or have at least one parent who was.
  • We identify with over 300 ancestries.
  • Since 1945, more than 7.5 million people have migrated to Australia.
  • 85 per cent of Australians agree multiculturalism has been good for Australia.
  • Apart from English, the most common languages spoken in Australia are Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek, Tagalog/Filipino, Hindi, Spanish and Punjabi.
  • More than 70 Indigenous languages are spoken in Australia. These facts are taken from ABS 2016 Census Data. Check out the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.

Our school is holding a Harmony Day event on Thursday 21st March. On this day students may wear a cultural clothing or costumes to represent their cultural background, or they can wear something orange (the colour of Harmony Day). Students will be participating in a variety of fun activities relating to Harmony Day including participating in an African Drumming incursion throughout the day. We look forward to a fun day!
