Brainstorm Productions 2024

On Monday Brainstorm Productions came to our school to perform a theatre show called 'Sticks and Stones' which is a fun and inclusive show that reinforces positive relationships and supports vulnerable children to build confidence, social and emotional skills.
This show was about a young boy Toby who feels angry, frightened and confused by messages from peers, family, video games and YouTube.  Toby responds to these in the only way he knows how, with aggression and antisocial behaviour.
Toby then meets Joe and is shown how to be assertive and respect boundaries.  He also has to deal with a negative online experience and does this by reporting it and by telling an adult.  Toby also learns how to deal with his anger in a more positive way.
The strategies Toby uses were, stopping, breathing, putting his hands in his pocket, walking away and talking about his feelings.  As a way to cooperate with other kids Toby creates a circus routine with juggling.
All of the students really enjoyed the show and learned some important messages about resilience, cyber safety and anti-bullying.
