Take Care around the roadworks

Works have been happening around the corner of Carramar Drive and Havana Crescent for the past week. We are not sure how long these are going to continue for.

Could parents please remind their children to be safe and watch out for added traffic?

2023 Parents / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Last year we used the survey results to inform our Strategic Planning and set goals around behaviour management and engagement.

Survey links will be distributed next week.

Please speak to Mr. Bodley if you would like more information.

Canine Comprehension

Having a therapy dog in school can have many benefits.  Dogs can provide emotional support, reduce stress and anxiety and create a positive and calming atmosphere for students and staff.  The presence of a therapy dog can also improve social interactions, create a sense of comfort and safety, contributing to a more positive learning environment.
Some students have had the opportunity to be a part of an 8 week program ran by Canine Comprehension focusing on Friendship and Responsibility.  Students learn about empathy by understanding the needs of dogs and forming meaningful relationships with them.
In the first session the students were introduced to Ned, an expert snuggler who works with Helen as a Therapy Dog.  The students did trust building exercises with Ned to make him feel comfortable. During their next few sessions they discussed dog safety, rights and responsibilities and talked about self care and what it looks like.  These sessions also involved going outside and doing some trick training with Ned such as getting him to jump through a hoop which they enjoyed.
