NAIDOC Week 2023

NAIDOC WEEK 2ND - 9TH JULY 2023

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  The national theme for 2023, 'For Our Elders', recognises that across every generation, Elders have played and continue to play an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.
As a school to embrace this occassion the students have been involved in different activities to demonstrate our commitment to fostering culturally safe and inclusive learning environments.
1/2W created bookmarks as part of their CAFE reading activities, P/1D and 3/4S read Dreamtime stories. During Music each class participated in Indigenous dance workshops to show the importance of story telling through dance. During Art the classes had to work together using colours and patterns to create a NAIDOC WEEK artwork display.

Events in term 3
We hope that all families had a safe and relaxing two week over the school holidays.

Term 3 will see many things happening like special lunches, sporting clinics, parades and more.

Please make sure you keep an eye out for all the events throughout the term. As we finalise events, we place them on the school event calendar, located on the website.
Prep 2024 Placement Forms
It is time to return your Prep 2024 Placement Forms to the office. If you have a child beginning school at Karingal Heights in 2024 you need to return your placement form as soon as possible. Confirmation of enrolment along with enrolment forms will be going home very soon. If you have any questions, please contact the office on 9789 3288.
Unifoms
The weather is getting very cold and we want to ensure that everyone is comfortable at school.

Please talk to your child about dressing for the weather.
It's Construction Time In The Art Room
It's construction time in the Art room next term and that means we need boxes. Cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, any box smaller than a microwave are welcome. Mr Ennis will be most appreciative.

Assembly
Our first assembly for this term will be on Friday, 21st July. This will be our Academic Endeavour and Attendance Award presentation assembly. We hope to see you all there.
Children Late For School
If your child is late for school for any reason, including attending an appointment, you need to escort your child to the office. A child was allowed to walk into the foyer alone and unfortunately the office staff were in a meeting and did not realise! Luckily, we do not think he was there for long.

PE WITH MR HURFORD

At Karingal Heights our staff wear many hats and this week Mr Hurford took time away from his 5/6 class to run PE as Mr Bodley is busy being the acting Principal.  Mr Hurford showed off his quality foot movements and ball skills while demonstating how to control a soccer ball.
