School Notice Board-16th June 2023

Principal Announcement
We have been informed that the appointment of a new Principal is still pending. Mr Bodley will be the Acting Principal from the beginning of Term 3 until further notice.
Japanese Day
It seems as though everyone had a great Japanese Day yesterday. We had some amazing outfits worn and the children enjoyed participating in the many activities. Thank you to Miss McDonald for organising this enjoyable day. Don't forget to take a look at the Japanese Day photo gallery.
Special Assembly
Next Friday, at 2:00pm, there will be a special assembly. Some one seems to be retiring! We hope to see you there.

End of Term 2

Do not forget that next Friday is the end of term and we finish at 2:30pm. Don't be late!
Pupil Free Day
Wednesday is Pupil Free Day. Children are only required at school if they are coming for Parent, Student, Teacher Conferences.
Fundraising Meeting
The Fundraising Committee will be holding a meeting on Tuesday 20th June at 2:00pm in the Playgroup Room. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Academic Endeavour and Attendance Awards
Due to tight time lines, the Academic Endeavour and Attendance Awards will be presented early Term 3.
Children Late For School
If your child is late for school for any reason, including attending an appointment, you need to escort your child to the office. A child was allowed to walk into the foyer alone and unfortunately the office staff were in a meeting and did not realise! Luckily, we do not think he was there for long.
Current Notices
Sometimes we have a lot of notices go home all at once and it can be difficult to keep up with them. Each week we will try to update you with current notices and when they are due back. Please ask your child about them.

Buildings and Grounds Report

People often wonder what has been happening in the school in regards to buildings and grounds so we thought we would give you a little update.
  • 80% of external painting works have been completed with the last section waiting for better weather.
  • Rotting external windows have been replaced and painted.
  • A tree audit was completed and pruning will be happening soon.
  • A playground equipment audit was completed. Replacement of sections has taken place due to age and to bring the playground up to new Australian Standards.
  • Mulch has been added to and spread in the junior and senior playgrounds.
  • A shade sail audit was conducted. There is work needed to be completed to ensure they last for a long time.
  • After a basketball pole audit it was found that the backboards and associated fittings needed to be totally replaced. This is to be done on Pupil Free Day.
  • Our 6 monthly fire hydrant inspection found that there are some defects that need repairing. They will be completed soon.
We endeavour to keep our school and its grounds looking great and most of all, safe and we are constantly complimented on how good our school looks. Buildings and Grounds is a sub-committee of the School Council and anyone can be a part of it. Contact the office if you would like to be a member.

A survey for the Department of Education

Take part in a survey to help shape the future of education in Australia

Parents and guardians are invited to take part in a survey to help inform the Review to Inform a Better and Fairer Education System.

The online survey is an opportunity to help shape the future of education in Australia. It closes on Friday 23 June 2023.

The survey is open to anyone who cares for a school-aged child and makes decisions about their education. Students aged under 18 years can also take part, but require consent from a parent or guardian to do so.

The expert panel for the review will use the results to inform recommendations for the final report to all education ministers, by 31 October 2023. The final report will advise education ministers on what targets and reforms should be included in the next National School Reform Agreement.

The Social Research Centre is conducting the survey.

For more information on the survey, refer to parents/guardians survey on the Australian Government Department of Education website.
