Prep Transition

Our first prep transition session for our 2023 Foundation students begins on Thursday 25th August. Children who have enroled will be invited to attend these sessions. If you have not enroled it is time to do so. Pauline is waiting for your call.

Late school arrival

There is an extremely large number of children arriving at school well after the 9:00am bell. Children who arrive late not only disrupt the learning of others, they are missing out on important instruction time. The gates open at 8:45am and the first bell rings at 8:55am. Don't be late!
Being on time is extremely important and an expectation for all families to ensure their child is here and ready to learn.

If a child is consistently late, the school will now be sending letters home for parents to sign.

Pupil Free Day

Monday 5th September- Staff Professional Practice Day.

Don't forget that Monday 5th September is a Pupil Free Day. No child will be required at school. Please ensure you have made arrangements for you children.

Whole School Zoo Excursion Form

All the KHPS children and most of the staff are lucky enough to be offered a day at Melbourne Zoo free of charge. Please return the permission form before the 18th of August 2022

To access a copy of the permission form, please read on. All children should have received a copy of the permission form for the zoo. If you need another copy, you can download it here.

Learning For Success Session 3

Our next Learning For Success session is on Wednesday 17th August at 4:30. This week's session is Cooking and places are strictly limited so if you would like to attend, register now. If you have trouble registering please contact Mr Bodley.

Grade 4, 5,6 Camp

Camp payments are almost due and there are many families who have not contacted Pauline as to how much CSEF their child has to use towards camp. Please do not leave this to the last minute. Please contact Pauline as soon as possible.

BEING an UPSTANDER

An upstander is a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual, particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied. An upstander promotes respectful behaviour and language towards others.

What we are exploring right now...

For the next 2 weeks, the children at KHPS will be exploring one of the 4 steps to being an upstander. They will be learning about SHIFTING THE FOCUS.

What is shifting focus?
Trying to interrupt and shift the focus of the individual causing harm. This could be asking them to go for a walk, play a game or ask if you can help out. Try to divert their attention away. You could also ask the person who is being harmed to sit with you, or walk away with them.

Child safety at Karingal Heights Primary School

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Karingal Heights Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our website:

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
