BEING an UPSTANDER

An upstander is a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual, particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied. An upstander promotes respectful behaviour and language towards others.

What we are exploring right now...

For the next 2 weeks, the children at KHPS will be exploring one of the 4 steps to being an upstander. They will be learning about SHIFTING THE FOCUS.

What is shifting focus?
Trying to interrupt and shift the focus of the individual causing harm. This could be asking them to go for a walk, play a game or ask if you can help out. Try to divert their attention away. You could also ask the person who is being harmed to sit with you, or walk away with them.

Music In My Suitcase

The children were treated to a special perfomance by world music group Mara who shared with us music from multicultural Australia with their Music In My Suitcase performance. There was a lot of clapping and tapping and the children had a wonderful time.

Learning for Success

Our first Learning For Success session was, a fantastic success. It was great to see some of our parents attend and winning vouchers to spend. The next session will be on Wednesday, 3rd August at McClelland College and it will be a focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing. There is child care available for school aged children but you will need to register.  If you need help with this, please contact the office. More information will be emailed to everyone next week.

Special Lunch

Our next special lunch is on Thursday 4th August - Oven Backed Chicken Strips, Chips and Juice Box. All orders are due no later than Friday 29th July. Late orders cannot be accepted.
