A Word From the Principal

I hope you enjoy our eNewsletter photo this week taken by Dexter as a part of the Art photography unit.

Don't things change quickly in the COVID space. One minute we were welcoming students on site and the next we were asking them to stay home. Unfortunately we experienced some COVID cases in our school this week meaning closure for a day and all bar one of our teaching and Education Support staff that work in the classrooms having to be tested and isolate. We also have a small number of students having to do this also. Fortunately, our entire school population was not on site at the time due to our staged return to school. With all children returning next week we may find that more positive cases occur and the testing and isolating cycle begin again.

To help us with this it is extremely important that your child does not come to school at all if ill under any circumstances. This includes headaches or runny nose or sore tummy, anything. If they do your child will be isolated and we will be asking you to pick your child up from school to take them home and get tested. Keeping your child home if ill will definately assist with isolation times if your child does test positive.

Unfortunately, some children do not show symptoms and we do not know they are ill. This is tricky and something we will need to deal with. I would like to thank all of the school community for their cooperation and understanding.

Storms also sprung up today but luckily we only experienced slight damage with the ceiling of the breezeway leading to the children's toilets falling down. We have a lot of small branches that have fallen down but nothing that we cannot deal with. Power was out this morning as well as the internet so children on site found out what it was like when I was at school with no laptops or iPads.

Remember that Tuesday is a public holiday and we do not want to see anyone at school.

Stay safe everyone,

Kerryn Riley

2022 School Tours

School tours can now begin again. To come on a tour you will need to use our QR code and be fully vaccinated. Please contact the office to make a booking.

COVID at school

As you are aware we had positive COVID cases in our school this week forcing us to be closed for a day. What happens if a parent contacts me and tells me their child has tested positive for COVID? If you or you child tests positive for COVID please contact the school as soon as possible preferably by phone but if after hours by email. Once we receive notification we will call you back to ask for some further information such as the day of the test and the day of the test results. This may not happen until the next day. We then contact DET Emergency and Critical Incidents who then advises us at what to do.

A spreadsheet is then completed noting everyone who has had contact with the case.

Isolation for members of the school community will depend on when the positive case was at school, with whom and for how long the positive case was in contact with others and whether certain members of the school community have been vaccinated and how many vaccinations they have had. Specific families, staff and school visitors will then be contacted and given further instructions.

Our school may not close but to allow for cleaning it will probably close for a day. Everyone will be advised about this either through email or Class Dojo.

The most important information is that if you or your child is not well then get tested and your child not return to school until their symptoms have disappeared. Contact us immediately if the test is positive. For the rest of the community, do not panic and we will contact you if we need to.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the office.
