A Word From the Principal

We are so excited that our children will begin returning to school on 18th October. In this week's eNewsletter you will see information about the return including a page to put on your fridge showing what days we would like to see your children. They are not to be here everyday at the moment. Children who are currently working on site will continue to do so. You will also receive a copy of the information in your child's work pack.

We are looking forward to seeing them all.

How Many Snakes in a Jar?

Thank you to everyone who entered our competition. The competition rules stated that the first entry with the correct number was the winner. Our winner sent in the correct number by lunchtime on Monday. That was very quick. So our winner, who correctly nominated 63 snakes was........... Mikayla K. Well done, Mikayla.

Next week's competition will begin on Monday. Guess who the babies are!

Staggered Return to School

We can't wait to see your children back at school and they will slowly begin returning on 18th October. The Staggered Return to School information explains the days that your child will be allowed on site. Children who are currently working on site will continue to do so. If you are unable to open the link don't worry, there will be a copy in your child's work pack.

What does RESPECT mean?

One of our four school values is RESPECT.

RESPECT
How do you define respect with your children? It's not easy. At KHPS, we believe that you can discuss respect by looking at it in the following ways:

The action of respect is being SAFE, KIND and FAIR.

If you are talking about a behaviour or a choice your child has made, use this as an opportunity to discuss RESPECT.
* Was it safe toward the other person?
* Were your actions kind?
* Were you being fair?

Together we can create a respectful community.

Real Life Maths

We had some real life maths at work when Mrs Riley and Mr Bodley needed some help with measurement. Thank you girls for helping us measure the size of the shade sail we are applying for in the Shade Sail for Outdoor Learning grant. It saved Mr Bodley and I a lot of work. Your help was much appreciated.

Assembly

Our next assembly will be on Friday 15th October at 11:30am. We will be presenting the Term 3 Academic Endeavour Awards. Please attend Mrs Riley's room via Webex. We will see you then.

Vaccination Blitz

This message has been provided by DET about the vaccination weekend walk-in blitz across Melbourne’s South East by the Monash Health South East Public Health Unit.

The Monash Health South East Public Health Unit will be running a vaccination weekend walk-in blitz across Melbourne’s South East this coming weekend.

The vaccination walk-in blitz will offer the Moderna Vaccine to everyone aged 12 to 59 years and the AstraZeneca vaccine to those aged 60 years and above. No bookings will be required: just turn up, roll up your sleeve, and get vaccinated against COVID-19 at no cost.

Moderna, like Pfizer, is a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. Moderna is safe and highly effective in protecting you against getting COVID-19.

With two doses of the Moderna vaccine, you are far less likely to get very sick or need to go to hospital with COVID-19 disease. This high level of protection also applies to new variants of COVID-19, such as the Delta variant. The Moderna vaccine is safe in pregnancy and in children from 12 years of age.

The Moderna vaccine has been successfully rolled out in many countries across the world including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, and Singapore.

Anyone aged 12 and older can walk-in and get vaccinated at one of the participating vaccination clinics:

  • Dandenong Pop-up Clinic – Palm Plaza Mall Car Park (off Clow Street), Dandenong from 9am to 4pm, everyday
  • Sandown Racecourse Vaccination Centre – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale from 9am to 4pm, Friday 1 October – Sunday 3 October
  • St Francis Xavier College, Officer Campus – 21 Majestic Dr, Officer from 9am to 4pm, Saturday 2 October – Sunday 3 October
  • Frankston Community Vaccination Hub – Bayside Centre, Frankston from 11.30am to 6pm on Friday 1 October and 9:30am – 4:00pm on Saturday 2 October – Sunday 3 October

COVID-19 cases are increasing across Melbourne’s South East. Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated now to protect yourself, your family and the community.

Bookings are also available at the Sandown Racecourse Vaccination Centre and the Frankston Community Vaccination Hub via the online booking system or calling 1800 675 398.
