A Word From the Principal
We miss all the children here at school.
As we move into a second week of remote learning, many families know where to go to get any information they require around their children's learning, as they need to do this last year. For the newer families to the school, please ensure you are familiar with the school website and classroom programs such as; Webex, Class Dojo and Seesaw. All the learning and communication is delivered through these.
If you are looking for links to join video conferences, they can be located under the remote learning page of our website. I have also created a short video on how to find links to different Webex rooms and one about finding the class work program and resources. These videos are on the recent news (website homepage) and the newsletter.
Contacting staff.
School staff will be following their standard work day hours. If you require assistance from them, please contact them in the appropriate manner within their work hours. School staff are not required and will not necessarily be available to students or families/ carers ouside of their work hours.
Class Dojo or Seesaw are great methods for communicating around school work and expectations.
If you have concerns that are not related to work, please consider emailing the school and this will be forwarded to the correct person.
A huge thank you.
The staff, students and families make KHPS such a wonderful place, even when most are off site. Thank you for everyone for the support you are showing, and the lengths you have gone to over the past week, to ensure that schooling is still happening.
I hope that very soon, school will return to onsite learning and provide a bit of relief for everyone.

On-site eligibility and remote learning
School information regarding remote learning and eligibility for those student's who need to be supervised on-site during this lockdown.
Dear parents and carers
Yesterday the Acting Premier has announced new circuit breaker restrictions for Victoria to swiftly address the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
The restrictions are in place from 11.59pm 27/5/2021 for a seven-day period.
Following advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible learning from Monday 31 May to Thursday 3 June inclusive.
Friday 28 May will be a student-free day to allow schools time to prepare. Remote and flexible learning will begin on Monday 31 May.
Most student work packs were sent home on Thursday. If your child has not received their work, it can be collected from outside the office on Monday 31/5/2021
As with other remote learning periods, our school will provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:
- Children where both parents and/or carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:
- Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision
- For single parents/ carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
- Children experiencing vulnerability, including:
- children in out-of-home care
- children deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and is assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home
- children identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service.

The Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
We support the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge.
The Victorian Premiers' reading challenge is a great way to promote reading with your children. Student's will be asked to read a variety of books and record them down, to be submitted under their total. They will get recognition at the end of the challenge period.
Junior school student's will have the books that are read to them, at school, added to their totals. Listening to quality books is just as important as reading them in the early stages of learning.

Our next SWPBS focus
Over the next 2 weeks, we will be looking at the Responsible and Respectful behaviour, 'We wait our turn to speak.'
Responsible Rachael and Respectful Ralph understand when to wait and when to speak so they don't interrupt others.
Over the next 2 weeks, all the grades will be focusing on this expectation. How to have conversations without overtaking them, when to put your hand up, when to wait for a pause, how to excuse yourself if you need to interrupt urgently, etc.

Parent Payments
Payments for book supplies and fees are now due. If you are having difficulty paying please contact Pauline in the office.
Playgroup Postponed
Due to the COVID circuit breaker restrictions, playgroup will not be taking place on Thursday 3rd of May.
